The crowd was slowly beginning to disperse and Nino took a quick, affectionate glance at the birthday boy, soundly snoozing on a lawn chair across the yard. He chuckled to himself because if he could think of anyone that would fall asleep at his own birthday party, Ohno would have topped his list.

He began to make his way towards him slowly, taking time to say thanks to departing guests and joining in on jovial recounts of Ohno’s childhood. Nino didn’t feel particularly hurried to wake Ohno; the man needed the rest and Nino was enjoying hearing about Ohno’s fishing trip gone awry, which his mother was describing animatedly to the small group that had gathered. He laughed along with the rest when it ended with Ohno wrapped in his own fishing cord, still stealing glances at the sleeping idol when he thought he wasn’t being watched.

Nino finally found himself beside the older man when he’d said his farewells to the last lingering guest and had chanced looking eager as he made his way towards him in quick strides.

“Oh-chan,” Nino smiled, shaking his band mate lightly and watching as he slowly returned to consciousness, blinking rapidly as he took in the empty yard.

“Hi Nino.” Ohno returned the smile lazily, his eyes shining happily as they met the younger man’s. “Where is everybody?”

“Gone,” he grinned, reaching his hand to tenderly sweep some hair away from the round face.

The artist hardly looked concerned as he sat up slowly and murmured, “They must think I’m rude.”

“You’re an idol, Oh-chan, I’m sure they understand that you need some sleep every once in a while,” Nino laughed, patting the older man’s arm comfortingly.

Ohno leaned into his touch and smiled innocently, but the gleam in his eyes and the low purr gave away his real intentions. He tilted his head toward Nino’s and let out a noise of satisfaction when he leaned in and touched their lips softly.

“Oh-chan,” Nino murmured, taking a final drawn out kiss. “Your family is in the house.”

“It’s my birthday,” Ohno’s pout was almost enough to make him reconsider, but the lively chatter coming from the kitchen was enough to keep his resolve.

“We’ll celebrate at home,” Nino winked, getting up and heading towards the kitchen, where moments later more laughter could be heard.

After the family gifts were opened, mostly art supplies and a new fishing rod, and the farewells were said, Ohno and Nino found themselves nestled comfortably on the sofa back at Nino’s apartment. The television was playing softly in the background, as it had once held their attention, and the only light in the room was streaming from it. Ohno was tucked against Nino’s chest, his eyes closed serenely and if it wasn’t for the thumb rubbing circles on his palm, Nino would have sworn that he was sleeping.

“You know, I still haven’t given you your birthday present,” the younger man spoke conversationally, nipping the ear he’d just spoken into. “I think you’ll like it.”

Ohno grinned, slipping his hand up Nino’s shirt, “I’m sure I will, don’t worry.”

When Nino went to stand, gently rolling his boyfriend off him, Ohno groaned, “But you promised... no presents. I don’t need anything else.”

The younger band mate chuckled, “It didn’t cost much, I swear.”

The artist sighed, lying back in resignation, watching as Nino took the stairs two at a time, excitement apparent on his face. He returned a couple minutes later, holding a package wrapped in newspaper and topped with the tiniest of bows, no card in sight.

The laugh that escaped couldn’t be helped as he looked at what must have been the cheapest wrapped gift he’d ever seen. “So far, so good.”

His response was a stuck out tongue as he was handed the present. Ohno turned the package in his hand a couple times, identifying the general shape of the object before beginning to tear the paper, being too careful about something that had probably been taken off the front steps, or more likely the recycling bin. When the last of the paper fell away, Ohno gasped quietly, giving Nino a meaningful look.

“It’s just something stupid I thought of,” the younger blushed, squirming under the look he was receiving. “Everyone decorated it and I chose the photos.”

“Nino,” his lover breathed, obviously lacking words, but that was nothing unusual.

He flipped the scrapbook open, admiring the first picture taken together on September 15th, 1999. The heading in stickers read, ‘And so it began…” He continued to flip the pictures, watching as the band members slowly aged until he reached the end. It wasn’t a revealing picture. In fact, it looked like the four pictures before it that had Ohno with each band member.

The picture was Nino and Ohno, heads thrown back in laughter, completely unaware of the camera. At the bottom of the page, in Nino’s neatest calligraphy, in a size hardly visible to the naked eye, read ‘Forever’.

Yeah, my laptop decided to stop charging on me, so it's dead along with Microsoft Word. I have the edited versions of everything I've written on my family computer, but I'm hesitant about writing on here though. I'm pretty far ahead on updates, so we should be good. But I don't know what's wrong with my computer, which really sucks. Ah, sorry I'm just cranky after working an unexpected shift tonight, don't mind me. As for the story, this is my favourite one so far, so I hope you enjoy!
