Summary: It all started with a blind date. How could Nino know it would escalate to this? How could he know that an ordinary artist would change his entire outlook on love?
Nino had always considered himself fortunate enough to have a vast amount of intelligence, which was why he was at a loss to the reason he was standing in front of this fancy, surely expensive restaurant with Jun grasping his arm in a death grip which he thought was supposed to provide some amount of consolation.
<“He’s a really great guy, Nino,” Jun provided him with a thousand-watt grin, “I’m sure you guys will hit off! He‘s absolutely adorable and extremely sweet.”
“If he’s such a catch, why aren’t your filthy hands all over him?” Nino replied, referring to Jun’s behaviour since his break-up with his former boyfriend, Sakurai Sho. “I’m not sure adorable is really my type.” He added as an afterthought, thrusting a finger towards the large, looming double doors of the restaurant.
Jun’s twinkling eyes gave him away along with his response of, “He’s everybody’s type, Nino.”
“You didn’t, Matsujun!” Nino’s voice was full of clear distaste, “I’m not hooking up with your sloppy seconds, I’m not that desperate or desperate at all for that matter.”
“I haven’t! I haven’t!” Jun raised his hands in the air in the sign of surrender, “But I will if you don’t.” He grinned at a thoroughly disgusted Nino who had suddenly had a change in heart and was almost itching to get in the restaurant and away from the pervert he was currently, not to mention unfortunately, situated in front of.
“Fine, I’ll go in,” Nino relented with a sigh, “But it’s only to save this poor, unsuspecting man from the likes of you. I’m not sure I could live with myself if I had a chance to save an innocent mortal from your sick mind, and didn’t.”
“Whatever gets you in the restaurant before he thinks you stood him up,” Jun frowned, checking his watch before shoving Nino towards the posh restaurant with a little extra force as a small form of payback.
When Nino saved himself from a possible spill and gave Jun one last ominous glare, he gave the door a hesitant push and entered. He hadn’t expected anything less than the spectacle of an interior that he found. The carpet was an off-shade of white that went flawlessly with the long, flowing translucent curtains and satin tablecloths. Grand chandeliers hung over each table and even the roof was a sight, trimmed in gold with various patterns.
Nino had never before felt so out of place and worried for his pocketbook. It was true he was a little money conscious and had saved a small fortune over the years but was he really going to risk losing it all for a man he wasn’t even sure he’d want to fuck?
He pushed down the anxious feelings and headed towards the greeter who was sporting a smile that would even rival Jun’s from minutes earlier. ‘For the amount I’m paying for dinner they better be smiling until it fucking hurts’ Nino couldn’t help but think resentfully but plastered a polite smile on his face anyways to at least make it look like he could afford the place.
“Hello, how many for you this evening?” The greeter’s voice was just as fake as his smile which almost threatened to bring the scowl back to Nino’s face but he kept his composure despite his internal battle to stay calm.
“I’m meeting someone actually,” Nino felt his apprehension rising as it came time to meet this mysterious, adorable man that Jun had seemed to take a liking too. “Ohno Satoshi?”
“Ah yes, right this way sir,” the greeter smiled making Nino fill with a little bit of cockiness. He had never eaten at a place where they called you sir and showed you to your guest. Though, it was a little relieving seeing as Nino had never laid eyes on the man he was supposed to meet.
As they approached a table with a lone man sitting looking almost as nervous and self -conscious as Nino felt he felt himself let a sigh of relief. The man was adorable but extremely attractive and definitely someone Nino would let in his bed. His unusually tanned skin and short, spiked brown hair were enough to make Nino shiver in anticipation. If this man’s personality was anything as unusual and alluring as his looks, Nino might already be in danger of being smitten.
When he came to an awkward stop in front of the man and took a seat, which the greeter kindly pulled out for him, he let himself lock eyes with his equally discomfited date.
“Hello,” Nino gave the man his best dazzling smile in an attempt to feign confidence that he was presently lacking, “Ninomiya Kazunari. Nice to meet you, Jun told me… very little about you actually.”
Ohno’s answering smile was enough to make Nino’s heart speed up a little, “Ohno Satoshi. All Jun told me was that you were adorable and extremely sweet.”
Nino rolled his eyes but his smile relaxed into a natural one, “He told me the exact same thing which is no surprise, he’s obviously scheming. So where exactly did you meet Jun?” He couldn’t help but let a little suspicion leak into his voice. It was Matsujun he was talking about and when people, especially incredibly handsome ones such as the one sitting across from him, met Matsujun, they really got to know all about him.
“He did some modeling for one of my art classes last semester,” Ohno smiled, reminiscing, “We got talking after the class and when he came back the next day, we went out for lunch. How about you?”
Nino wasn’t sure he liked the tone in Ohno’s voice or the fact he’d gone out to lunch with Matsujun but responded with a strained, polite smile, “I’ve known him since high school when he was still innocent.”
Ohno snorted but remained silent as his eyes wandered down to the menus on the table. He picked one up delicately, as if scared to touch it, and began to flip through it. Nino decided to do the same but couldn’t stop himself from taking one sidelong glance at the man across from him. The face he was met with was enough to momentarily stop his rapidly beating heart. Confusion was written all over the artists face as he slowly looked up from his menu to meet Nino’s eyes.
“There are no prices,” Ohno’s astonished voice sent Nino into a fit of giggles that had people from other tables turning to look.
“Of course there are no prices. When you’re rich, you need not be concerned with prices,” Nino tried to cover up his giggles but couldn’t help it so he stuffed his face in his arm. “Didn’t you know this place when you picked it out?”
“I didn’t pick it out,” Ohno looked distressed when his and Nino’s eyes met again, “Jun did!”
Nino’s giggles suddenly halted and his glare was menacing, “Jun picked this place out?”
Ohno shrunk away from Nino’s furious look and whispered, “Yes, he told me you loved this place so I just thought I’d use my credit card or something.”
“I can’t believe that man!” Nino burst out causing a few other diners to look over to their table again with a mix of annoyance and alarm, “He set me up, stupid bastard! He wanted me to look bad, I bet.”
Ohno’s face was currently a combination of slight amusement and slight frustration, “How am I supposed to pick something out when I don’t know how much it costs?”
Nino had to laugh at his utter lack of concern for Jun’s devious ways and instead with the cost of the food, “We can leave if you want? It’s not like we’ve ordered anything.”
Ohno looked crestfallen at Nino’s words and looked up at him through his eyelashes, “We were supposed to go out for dinner though, it’s alright we can stay.”
Nino felt his heart flutter at the words and the fact Ohno wanted to stay and have dinner with him but shook his head, “Ohno we can just go somewhere else, it’s not a big deal. It’s probably best for both our pocketbooks anyways. Who wants to pay hundreds of dollars for something they can’t even pronounce anyways?”
Ohno looked up with a smile, “I know just the place! My roommate Aiba-chan works at a restaurant a few blocks from here and they make the best chahan rice.”
As the men stood up to leave Nino couldn’t help but view his situation a little differently. As much of an ass Jun had been in sending him to a place he couldn’t afford, he also sent him possibly to the most endearing man Nino had ever met. It didn’t, however, stop him from calling Jun and leaving a threatening voice message.

Alright this started out as a one-shot but as I wrote it I began to have a flood of other ideas so I decided to make it into a fiction! I know it’s a bad idea because I have another fic going but I really like what I can do with this fic and it seems to be moving a lot faster than my other one! And there is less angst! Anyways hope you enjoy! Rest of the date next chapter since I'm such a horrible person with a busy day ahead of me tomorrow!
